We lost Denny all too soon. He was a good soul, kind to all, and he made me feel at home and welcome during some difficult times. I was inspired to paint this image by a photograph of Denny taken by his nephew, Christopher Buckley Wolff. I've recently enjoyed using my watercolors on canvas surfaces, which tends to be more unpredictable and often results in greater textural qualities. This painting of Denny represents one way I honor and remember someone dear who has left us. Studying a person's features and expressions helps to embed their face and their memory in my heart.
