In teaching watercolor classes, I have often tried to stress the importance of recognizing and expressing the full range of values in what we paint. Contrast is one of my favorite concepts relating to this, and we studied this beautifully colorful painting by artist Jim Musil to see how all of these ideas can come together so successfully. This piece was my demonstration for the class of reducing Musil's strongly contrasting colors to black and white. It is available - unframed - $195.
